A grouping of dark black-brown cup fungi on a fallen rotting log. The upper surface of the cups were a very dark brown colour and the surface was smooth and the undersurface was black in colour and rough. The cups were growing up to 3.5 cm in diameter. The stalk was lateral to central. This was short, 0.5-1 cm, if fruiting on the top of the log and longer with longitudinal ridges, up to 4cm, if fruiting along the side of the log. Remnant mature coastal broadleaf forest.
