Small, hard brackets growing on a dead branch, probably willow (Salix). Up to 45 mm by 20 mm, and 10-12 mm maximum thickness. Upper surface rough, purplish in colour but with over-lying gingery-brown warts that coalesce near the margin. Lower surface brown with very small pores. Cross-section shows chocolate-brown pore layer 1-2 mm thick, and yellow-brown non-pore tissue up to 10 mm thick.
