Location approximate On hardwood in deciduous floodplain forest. Soft and watery, more brownish and zonate than Tyromyces chioneus, short pubescence, whitish pores bruising to buff. Noted as having ?streaked? context although context not photographed. This could be interpreted as zonate, which is a characteristic know for this species according to Gilbert & Ryvarden. Postia livens is also another possibility given the large size relative to other P. caesia complex mushrooms in North America, larger pores, and pubescence. Lack of significant blue coloration or blue staining could be due to freshness of mushrooms, although there may be a slight bluish tint. Brownish bruising of pores isn?t noted in any descriptions of either P. livens or P. tephroleuca. But the pores of P. caesia complex specimens seen in the same area on the same day also bruised bluish almost immediately, however these were likely not P. livens.
