People in an Internet group suggested Lentinus velutinus, and Lentinus crinitus. An article I found on Internet, "Lentinus in Trinidad B.W.I." by R.W.G. Dennis, describes Lentinus velutinus as follows: "Pileus covered with a pile of short erect hairs formed of single hyphae." The var. leprieurii has "gills narrow, stipe more slender, often tufted, on logs."
