all three fruit bodies were on small branches of well-rotted wood, elevated from the ground. No mycelium connected these branches to the ground. The wood was punky, and easily opened; no tuber inside the wood, either. This is consistent with all of my obsies of this purported species here at Chabot. Different species? Or flexible behavioral strategies? Some make tubers, some don't.
