On hardwood in deciduous floodplain forest. Soft and watery, more brownish and zonate than Tyromyces chioneus, short pubescence, whitish pores bruising to buff. Noted as having "streaked" context although context not photographed. This could be interpreted as zonate, which is a characteristic know for this species according to Gilbert & Ryvarden.
