Ascoma appeared to be emerging from the bark on a small oak twig (Quercus michauxii), ~0.5-2mm broad; flesh tough, but somewhat spongy (not gelatinous by any means). Inside of the ascoma is hollow. Asci clavate, thin walled and smooth, goldish-amber in Melzer's; ~90-115 x 7-10 μm. Ascospores filiform, smooth and generally curved, ~23.5-35 (42) x (1.0) 1.3-1.8 (2.0) μm. Paraphyses septate, smooth and slender, generally hooked or strongly curved/coiled. There were also some other broadly elliptical to amygdaliform-shaped things, not sure if they were part of this specimen, or made their way onto the slide during the mounting process. They exhibited very thick walls (sheaths?), roughly 22 to 27 μm in diameter, though some a bit skinner (~14 μm); and hyaline.
