United States, Ohio, Columbus, 2218R Summit St.. Growing on a herbaceous plant stem, possibly of Carduus arvensis or Solidago canadensis (present in the same area earlier in the year). All structures inamyloid. No distinctive reaction in 1M KOH. Brown, multiseptate, irregularly roughtened hairs on the exterior. Ectal excipulum a textura angularis composed of brown cells. Paraphyses hyaline, smooth and narrowly lanceolate. Asci unitunicate, inoperculate, 8-spored and with croziers. Spores smooth, hyaline and 0-septate. Spore measurements: (6.6) 7.1 - 10 (10.3) × (2.1) 2.3 - 3.1 (3.6) µm, Q = (2.4) 2.6 - 3.6 (4.4); N = 30, Me = 8.5 × 2.7 µm; Qe = 3.1, 40.0087 -82.9999
