United States, Ohio, Columbus, Kilbourne Run Sports Park. Tried taking a spore print but it failed. Found in leaf litter next to a rotten beech log. Clamps lacking in all tissues. Pileipellis with brown hairs. Stem with thick-walled septate hairs. Pleurocystidia absent. Cheilocystidia abundant. Cheilocystidia intergrading between leptocystidia and lamprocystidia (apically thick-walled). Shape of cheilocystidia very variable: clavate, sphaeropedunculate, ovate, vesicular or fusiform. Cheilocystidia measurements: (25.1) 27.2 - 69.7 (97.6) × (11.2) 12.2 - 19.4 (23.5) µm, Q = (1.5) 1.9 - 4.9 (6.3); N = 30, Me = 45.8 × 15.6 µm; Qe = 3. Brown aborted basidia present. Basidia 4-sterigmate. Basidia measurements: (34) 36.6 - 45.6 (46.2) × (10.6) 11.1 - 12.3 (13.1) µm, Q = (2.8) 3.1 - 3.8 (4); N = 9, Me = 41.3 × 11.8 µm; Qe = 3.5. Spores angular and thick-walled. Spore measurements: (9.9) 10.9 - 12.9 (13.8) × (6.5) 6.8 - 7.7 (9.2) µm, Q = (1.4) 1.5 - 1.8; N = 30, Me = 11.7 × 7.4 µm; Qe = 1.6

Brown tufted rhizomorphs present at the base of the stem. Clamps absent in the pileipellis, stipe trama and lamellar trama. Stipe surface with bunches of septate hairs. Thin walled cheilocystidia present. Cheilocystidia present: 36.8 - 65 × 17.4 - 26.1 µm, Q = (2.1) 2.12 - 3.07 (3.1); N = 3, Me = 53.8 × 21 µm; Qe = 2.6. Pleurocystidia absent or rare. Brown abortive basidia present. Basidia mostly 4-sterigmate. Basidia measurements: (28.2) 30.2 - 45.4 (46.6) × (9.5) 10.1 - 12.3 (13.6) µm, Q = (2.8) 3 - 3.8 (3.9); N = 8, Me = 39.2 × 11.3 µm; Qe = 3.5.
