Southeastern Louisiana University Mycological Herbarium (SELU-Fungi)The Mycological Herbarium at Southeastern Louisiana University contains a regionally focused collection of macrofungi, primarily representing the phyla Ascomycota and Basidiomycota, along with a selection of lichens and prepared slides of molds. Most specimens include preserved fruiting bodies, and many are accompanied by microscope slides showing spores or tissue sections to support microscopic identification and study. All specimens were collected in South Louisiana, primarily during the fall, with additional collections from the spring. The collection was built entirely through student fieldwork and laboratory preparation, providing a foundation for fungal biodiversity education and training in mycological techniques. This collection supports undergraduate research, teaching, and regional documentation, and continues to grow through student engagement and local field studies.
