A typo differt sporis cum magnitudine dimorpha. Holotypus: Hollandia, Wasseenaar, "Voorlinden", leg. Maas Geesteranus # 7513, 7.X.1950 in Herb. L conservatus est; isotypus BAFC # 34.292.
This variety is characterized by being a relatively small form of T. fimbriatum Fr. having two types of spores: the smaller ones are similar to those of T. fimbriatum, up to 6.8 microns in diam, and "giant" ones measuring 8-9.7 microns diam. Both appear with the same ornamentation, the larger ones on the whole are more ellipsoid. They may orginate in fours and twos on the basidia.
Habitat: common in sand of marintime dunes, but also found in rocky-sandy soils.
Distribution: It appears to be almost restricted to the coast of the North sea, from Norway to the Netherlands, and to Czechoslovakia. It also seems to grow in the United States and the Soviet Union.
