Allied to G. mirabile and G. lignicola in the habit of growing on wood, seated upon a dense subiculum.
Translation:
Gregarius, broadly obovate (1/2-3/4 inches in diam.), arising from a white subiculum that spreads out over wood. Outer peridium fururaceous, tawny, divided, splitting into many acute reflexed segments. Inner peridium darker than the exoperidium, sessile, globose, smooth, having a fibrillose, slightly umbonate mouth. Capillitium and spores dark umber; filaments sinuous, simple, variable, attenuate at the tips; spores smooth, globose, 4 µ in diameter.
