Etym.: The varietal name refers to the elongated stipe, tapering downwards.

Spore-sac small in the typical variety, with an elongated stem which tapers downwards and is somewhat sulcate. The microscopic features are identical.

Habitat: The same as in the typical variety.

Distribution: Africa: Somalia, Mauretania, Namibia. Asia: Arabia, China. North America: United States (Arizona). South America: Argentina.
